This guide covers what you need to know before buying a travel eSIM from eSIMFOX: how the service works, real plan prices for popular destinations, the refund and device requirements, and the current deals we're tracking on gainabargain.com.
Before publishing this guide, we reviewed eSIMFOX's public destination pages, plan prices, FAQ, device requirements, and customer reviews on third-party sites. We haven't personally bought or tested an eSIMFOX plan, so treat this as a research starting point and confirm the live price and plan details on eSIMFOX before you pay.
If an offer ends or a plan page changes, we'll update this guide when we catch it.
Merchant positioning: eSIMFOX sells prepaid, data-only travel eSIMs for iPhone, iPad, and Android, and says one eSIM profile can hold plans for all of its 200+ supported destinations.

eSIMFOX sells prepaid mobile data plans that you install on your phone as an eSIM instead of a plastic SIM card. You pick a destination (a single country or a region), choose a data amount and validity period, then scan a QR code to install it. The plan connects to local partner networks when you arrive, so you avoid your home carrier's roaming charges.
Plans come in three shapes on the site: single-country plans (for example USA, Mexico, Thailand, Turkey), regional plans (Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Oceania, Middle East and North Africa, Caribbean Islands), and a Global plan. Some destinations, including the USA and Europe, also offer unlimited-data options for 7 or 15 days.
All plans are data only. There's no local phone number, so regular calls and SMS go through your home SIM (at your carrier's rates) or through apps like WhatsApp over the eSIM's data.
One eSIM profile for every trip. eSIMFOX says you install the eSIM once and add new destination plans or top-ups to the same profile from your dashboard, without reinstalling. That's handy for multi-country trips or repeat travelers.
Validity starts on arrival. Per the plan pages, the validity period begins on the first network connection at your destination, not at purchase, so you can install the eSIM at home a few days early.
Major partner networks. The USA plan lists AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon as partner networks; the Europe plan lists Orange, Vodafone, and Movistar across 38 countries. Actual speed and coverage depend on location and network load.
No ID check. eSIMFOX says no ID or passport is required to buy, and its plan pages list eKYC as not required.
Hotspot allowed. The merchant says you can share your data via hotspot. On fixed-data plans you're still limited to the data volume you bought.
No auto-charges. When data runs out, the connection pauses rather than billing you automatically; you top up manually.

What is an eSIM?
It's a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of inserting a card, you scan a QR code to download a data plan. Your regular SIM can stay in the phone at the same time.
Is my phone compatible?
You need an eSIM-capable phone that isn't locked to a carrier. eSIMFOX lists iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, and Google Pixel 3 and newer as examples, and has a compatible-devices page to check your exact model.
When should I install it, and when does validity start?
eSIMFOX recommends installing at home over Wi-Fi before you leave. The plan's validity starts on the first network connection at your destination, not on the purchase date. On arrival, switch the eSIM on for mobile data and enable data roaming for that line.
Will my physical SIM still work?
Yes, on dual-SIM phones. You can keep your home number active for calls and texts while the eSIM handles data. Your home carrier may still charge for calls or texts you make abroad.
Can I make calls and send SMS with the eSIM?
Not on a local number. eSIMFOX plans are data only, so use WhatsApp or similar apps for calls and messages over the eSIM's data.
Do I need an ID or passport to buy?
No. eSIMFOX says no ID is needed, and its plan pages list ID verification (eKYC) as not required.
Can I use it as a hotspot?
Yes, per the merchant. On fixed-data plans, hotspot use counts toward the data you bought.
What happens when my data runs out?
The connection pauses; nothing is charged automatically. You can top up or buy a new package in your eSIMFOX account without installing a new eSIM.
What is the refund policy?
eSIMFOX's homepage lists refunds within 30 days. We couldn't load the full Refund Policy page when we checked, so we can't confirm the conditions (for example, whether an installed or used eSIM qualifies). Read the Refund Policy on esimfox.com before you buy, and confirm your phone is compatible first, since compatibility issues are a common reason for eSIM refund requests across the industry.
What do customers say?
eSIMFOX reports a 4.7 average across review platforms on its own reviews page. On Trustpilot, many reviews are positive about setup and WhatsApp support, but some reviewers complain about refund requests going unanswered. Read recent reviews before a high-value purchase.
How do I contact support?
24/7 via WhatsApp (+31 970 102 65942) or by email at [email protected].
Is it safe to shop through gainabargain.com?
Yes. Our links take you to eSIMFOX's official site and checkout. Always check you're on esimfox.com before entering payment details.
