Installation note: Central air conditioners and heat pumps should be installed by a licensed HVAC professional, and refrigerant work in the U.S. requires EPA certification. Used AC Depot itself recommends consulting a local professional before ordering. This page is general shopping information only.
This guide covers Used AC Depot, an online seller of used, inspected, and surplus HVAC equipment, including condensers, heat pumps, package units, air handlers, compressors, furnaces, and coils for homes and businesses. It explains how its listings and guarantee work, the return terms, and the deals we track on gainabargain.com.
Why Trust Us
Before publishing this, we reviewed Used AC Depot's homepage, featured listings, guarantee details, and Return Policy. We haven't purchased or installed this equipment, so treat this as a research starting point and confirm the unit, price, and availability with the merchant before buying.

What Used AC Depot Sells
Used AC Depot's catalog is organized by equipment type, refrigerant, and size, which helps if you already know the specs you need:
- Condensers: heat pump and straight-cool units from 1 to 5 tons, plus mini-split, PTAC, through-the-wall, and geothermal units.
- Package units: straight cool with electric heat, heat pump, gas/electric, geothermal, wall-mount, and indoor (MagicPak) units.
- Compressors: reciprocating, scroll, rotary, and variable-speed compressors.
- Air handlers, furnaces, and coils: convertible and vertical air handlers, furnaces from about 40,000 to 120,000 BTU, and cased and uncased coils.
- Commercial and surplus: larger commercial units up to 25 or 30 tons, plus new surplus equipment in several categories.
What Stands Out About Used AC Depot
Guarantee Plus. The merchant says its used air handlers, condensers, and package units are guaranteed to work on initial use. If a unit doesn't function properly within 30 days of receipt, you can return it for a full refund plus 10% of the original equipment cost (excluding tax and shipping), or choose another unit worth 110% of your purchase price.
Refrigerant power train guarantee. Units bought after April 1, 2012 also carry a one-year limited Refrigerant Power Train guarantee, according to the merchant.
Deep discounts versus list price. Featured used condensers are listed at well under half their stated original price.
Phone help. Customer reviews on the merchant site often mention staff helping buyers identify the right unit by phone, and the merchant encourages calling for live inventory.
Things to Consider Before You Buy
- Each listing is usually a single used unit. Several featured listings show "Out of Stock, but we may have others available," so a specific unit can sell quickly. Call 1-800-626-5124 to check live inventory.
- Returns are limited. Unopened items returned within 30 days get an 85% refund, minus original shipping, and you pay return shipping. Opened items are accepted only at the merchant's discretion, installed items can't be returned for a refund, and commercial equipment is final sale.
- Ordering the wrong unit is on you. Returns caused by ordering the wrong equipment are at the merchant's discretion, so confirm tonnage, refrigerant, and voltage with your installer first.
- Check the refrigerant. Equipment is listed by refrigerant type. Match it to your existing system, and ask your installer about long-term refrigerant availability and cost, especially for older R-22 equipment.
- Freight shipping. Shipping is quoted by the most economical carrier based on weight and state, with commercial delivery needing a loading dock or forklift.
